Let’s talk about those who actually voiced – they play the music that in the original we live, we may not hear anymore. And how did they come to such a life.
A quarter of a century ago, tribute groups were treated as a marginal, club, curious phenomenon, and so on. In general, copies that are obviously worse than the original – what can I talk about? But the public’s attitude has changed for a long time: old / new rock fans go to such concerts in decent halls and are quite a fan. For the last two decades, Brit Floyd, all kinds of “zeppelins” and even Bootleg Beatles have played in the capital who themselves long ago became classics of the tribute genre and performed at Glastonbury. We also don’t understand where the whole galaxy came from. Who should pay tribute / rendre hommage ours? To anyone. From domestic – only Tsoi and the Kino group. Why? As Kino guitarist Yuri Kasparyan remarked with his signature sly smile in an interview with me: “All the rest are still alive!” But this, of course, is not the only point. It seems to me that our rock classics are perceived as a kind of guru, whom we must not only listen to, but also look at them. To perceive Russian rock as “pure music” is probably too early. Plus, musical snobbery: all these talk about “the main thing is poetry” and “three chords”. Although I personally would listen to some baroque tribute to Aquarium with interest. The re-exported rock band from Rostov-on-Don Father McKenzie went to the Beatles festival in Brazil. Why is there – God knows him. And what difference does it make in which country the tribute show is being held: this music has long been an international thing. We have beatlefests in Russia too. And such tributes in Moscow also exist. For example, the GKChP, the tribute of the Red Hot Chilli Peppers, has long been well known. From time to time I follow the Hansov tribute called Jeans N’Roses. Fortunately, they play pretty regularly in Moscow clubs. Confident copyists. Both externally and generally. The Slash guitarist is good. The vocalist on some records sings to Axel Rose to zero, which is called, although on others it is still not very … And here’s the thing: you can not love Axel Rose, but his screaming, screaming and “ah ah ah ah! ” – This is his chip, that is, exactly what he differs from everyone else. Singing Guns N’Roses songs in a normal, albeit well-posed, voice is already karaoke. And then the restaurant! And there’s another problem: the fans will forgive the original group for everything, but they won’t forgive the tribute group. Where do they come from? The Communique group, which performs, as it’s not difficult to guess by its name, Dire Straits songs and Mark Knopfler’s solo is a project and typical for the tribute -cultures, and peculiar. The creator of the group Igor Nekrasov is a guitarist, singer, songwriter in the style of “lyrical chanson”. Event organizer. A busy man who finds time to develop his tribute project, which is in demand in Moscow and other cities near the capital. His path to Knopfler was somewhat winding. At school, Igor was a fan of The Beatles, “collected all the records, from number albums to solo singles, and began to play the guitar.” Then, already at the institute, “they invited me to the group, I got infected with the scene!” I realized that I need to learn in order to move on. He received good knowledge for a rock guitarist at a guitar college in Moscow, and he still teaches with Sergei Popov. ”The band played all sorts of“ heaviness ”, with distortion,“ like Blackmore. ” Nekrasov felt that “this is not something, kindergarten.” And I didn’t really like this music, and there wasn’t enough guitar education, in short – I needed something of my own, close to my heart.
